Pwcs 2023 Calendar – PWCS Superintendent Proposes Budget for 2023 7% Salary Increase Plan Includes Paying for Additional Special Education Teachers and Kindergarten Aides, Security Staff.
The Superintendent of Prince William County Schools Dr. LaTanya D. McDade PWCS budget for fiscal year 2023. The budget will spend $61 million to provide 4.2 percent of the cost of percent of lifestyle changes and inflation to teachers and staff, resulting in an average. a 7 per cent pay rise for most workers.

"We began the process of developing this year's budget and are committed to investing in the priorities and outcomes outlined in the PWCS Vision 2025, Launching a Prosperous Future Strategic Plan," said Superintendent McDade. "As a result, I am pleased to announce that the Chancellor's Fund for 2023 includes significant investments focused on supporting our classrooms and students."

The budget includes an additional $20 million for market-based improvements to certified/trained and classified labor wage scales. As a result of these reforms, PWCS costs will increase. This progress is specifically focused on the early and mid-career stages of our scale, as PWCS like any other school stage competes for talent. Therefore, some educated and qualified workers can increase their salary by more than 7 percent.
In total, the budget invests about $10 million in additional special education resources. This includes an additional 100 full-time special education assistants, who will provide much-needed support to vulnerable students. In addition, the budget includes the employment of 13 assistive technology professionals, who are essential to support language and student participation in the classroom.
The proposal also includes the addition of 88 nursery teachers to support the essential development of early learners. To support families, the budget includes the addition of 35 key mediators, with a long-term aim of at least one per school over the next four years. This grant also includes five additional foster care platforms and additional support for language translation. In addition, to support students and families in post-secondary planning, career opportunities and technical education, the fund will add 15 career counselors.
Prince William Co. School Board Approves Calendar For 2022 23
Having a safe and healthy school is important. To support this, the budget calls for hiring 29 security professionals and upgrading cameras and emergency systems. It also includes hiring 14 additional nurses to strengthen this critical role and reduce high student/nurse ratios.
Total operating revenue for PWCS Fiscal Year 2023 will increase by $173.1 million, or 14.1 percent over fiscal year 2022. Prince William County PWCS Operating Fund revenue is $50.6 million more than FY 2022, or 9.2 percent. State revenue will exceed $121.6 million in FY 2022, an increase of 19.9 percent.
The proposal also includes funding for the PWCS Capital Improvement Program (CIP) which addresses the need for new facilities and additions to accommodate growth. The CIP also provides a number of reform programs and promotes the sustainability goals of PWCS.
Fairfax Co. School Board Considers New Calendar To Address Learning Loss From Pandemic
The fund will fund the resources needed at head level to better manage and support schools to promote educational progress. As the largest employer in Prince William County, recruiting, hiring and supporting employees requires sufficient human resources, financial resources and support staff to provide timely and system support.
There are many opportunities for stakeholders to hear more about the budget and provide feedback. The school board has organized a public meeting on February 7th, a public meeting on February 16th and two work sessions. On March 16, the school board will process the budget approval. The local board must consider the budget by May 1.

Prince William County Schools is offering a new school calendar that includes Jewish, Hindu and Muslim holidays.
Prince William County school officials have added Jewish, Hindu and Muslim holidays to the first 2021-2022 calendar for the Virginia school system and are asking parents to weigh in.

Proposed Prince William Co. School Calendar Adds Jewish, Hindu, Muslim Holidays
The school system is asking parents to participate in a poll that ends Thursday to provide feedback on Calendar Option B, which "includes additional holidays that reflect the diversity of the PWCS community."
In order to reach 180 days and add four additional days off, the school system will subtract three days of winter break and one day of spring break from the originally approved calendar.
After receiving feedback from the poll, the school board will discuss and approve the 2021-22 calendar later this month.
