During my time at MNPS, I often worked with members of the LEAD team. I was able to see firsthand how school and network leaders focus on student development not only by providing quality education, but also by developing strong relationships with families and community members. I have embraced the opportunity to work alongside others who share the belief that all children should have access to quality educational opportunities, regardless of the barriers they face.
My first teaching job in Nashville was as a hospital teacher at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I worked for almost ten years with medically needy students who required long-term hospital treatment. The lessons I learned from my students about remaining optimistic in the face of adversity were truly life-changing.
