Umn Academic Calendar Fall 2023 – Join the spring-summer research project, which is a collaboration between the Louis Stokes North Star STEM Scholarship (LS-NSSA), Century College, Minneapolis Community & Technical College (Minneapolis College), the National Science Foundation and the 3M Foundation.
These spring/summer research projects engage students in a short-term, introductory research experience. The program gives students a taste of authentic research early in college to prepare them for a traditional research program later, such as a standard 10-week, 40-hour research program the following summer. Students can participate in spring/summer research as well as take courses or work.

The program can be 4 to 6 weeks long, with students in a virtual/in-person lab Monday through Thursday afternoons. Some Friday evenings may have different meeting times due to field trip schedules.

Fellows receive a stipend of up to $925 (depending on participation and attendance) for 4 weeks; change if 6 weeks.
Virtual Epidemiological Research: A global health crisis has arisen that has forced most of the world to adapt and change much of their lives to help in this fight. We have the ability to draw attention to a biological challenge in real time. Our focus will be on studying the epidemiology and transmission of infectious diseases. In this research experience, students will take an epidemiological approach to research. Students will examine the occurrence, spread, control of infectious diseases and look for other factors related to morbidity and mortality. Students will participate in virtual professional development and site visits, presentations, and design their own epidemiologic study.
About Tiny Earth: Tiny Earth is a network of teachers and students focused on students extracting traces of antibiotics from soil. The program has two missions: First, it aims to encourage students to pursue careers in science through original laboratory and field research conducted in introductory courses with the potential for global impact. Second, it aims to address a global health threat – declining access to effective antibiotics – by harnessing the collective power of many student researchers simultaneously tackling the same challenge, living up to the motto "students produce antibiotic discoveries ". All applications open on November 1st. Apply for Spring 2022 and Summer 2022 here. Spring application by December 15. Summer applications until February 28. All university governing bodies will meet via Zoom in the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters.

University Senate governance at the University of Minnesota is steeped in rich tradition. The umbrella body, the University Senate, was established in 1912 and consisted only of faculty members at the time. Students, academic professionals such as faculty and staff were added later. There are now four senators in the University Senate: the Faculty Senate, the Student Senate, the P&A Senate and the Civil Service Senate.
Much of the elders' work is done through their committees. Each assembly has an executive or advisory committee. To the five advisory committees there are 23 standing committees and 14 standing sub-committees. Most committees are composed of faculty, students, civil service, P&A, and, where appropriate, retirees, alumni, and ex officio members.
The system of shared governance is established in the constitution of the university assembly. The scope of powers of senators and their committees is set forth in each of their constitutions, bylaws, and bylaws.

The University of Minnesota, officially the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, (UMN, U of M or Minnesota) is a public land-grant research university in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
